Ramla Bay: its beauty & characteristics!

Situated on the northern side of Gozo and considered to be the best beach on the island, Ramla Bay or in Maltese ‘Ramla l-Hamra’ is the largest sandy beach in Gozo.  This beach is very popular with both the Maltese and the summer tourists.  ‘Ramla l-Hamra’s main characteristics are its orange-red coloured sand and its beautiful blue clear and shallow waters.  Surrounded by rocky cliffs, this beach is situated at a bottom of a valley with fertile nature and bamboo found at the back of the bay.  In the middle of the beach, one will find a statue dedicated to Our Lady of Hope; the statue was built in 1881 in commemoration of a shipwreck.  If you want to admire the view of Ramla Bay, its valley and surroundings, one can climb up to Calypso Cave which is found on the cliffs on the western corner of the beach.  Click here for an aerial view of this natural beauty.   Thinking of a holiday at this time of the year?  We can offer you an ideal accomodation in Gozo.
