The 19th Edition of the Victoria International Arts Festival will kick off next Wednesday 8th of June.  With the main emphasis being on music, this five week long festival of music and art offers a wide range of first class international artists together with the best from the local scene.  600 musicians from 20 different countries such as Australia, USA and Taiwan participate in the VIAF.  This festival taking place in several venues in Gozo’s capital Victoria are completely free of charge.

The VIAF have become an event which attracts hundreds of people and its aim is to present a music and art programme which suits different tastes.  Jazz groups, bands, choirs, orchestras and literary evenings are few of the many events which are lined up during this annual festival.  On the opening day, The Malta Philarmonic Orchestra will start with a concert directed by Mro.Joseph Vella with works by Mozart, Beethoven and Vella himself.   Works by Mozart, Brahms and Tchaikovsky will also be played by the Malta Philarmonic Orchestra at the closing concert on Monday 11 July and will be set at the basilica of St.George.  Full programme of the VIAF.
